Day 16 Refugee Assistance In Yarmolintsy

3.11.22

Greetings, brothers and sisters.

Today is the 16th day of the war in Ukraine. We hear a lot of news about the destruction in Kyiv, Irpin, Kherson, Kharkov, Mariupol, Chernigov, Sumy and other cities.

We see terrible photographs of the consequences of the war. It's hard to believe, but it's true.

Talking with the refugees, we hear how they hid in the basement for 6-9 days from bombardment and artillery shelling. Many children were killed, civilians, several Christian volunteers who served in the most difficult places. So far, everything is calm in our city, but I saw two rockets that flew over the house of prayer.

We continue to serve refugees. People ride in waves, we have already experienced 2 waves, we are waiting for the third. It is not always possible to leave the city where the battle is taking place, and as soon as a more or less safe corridor appears, people leave.

Over the past two days, more than 100,000 people have been able to evacuate. And in a day or two they will be here.

In our center:

One woman, receiving a bowl of soup in the evening, began to cry, as it turned out she had not eaten anything hot for six days, but ate exclusively in dry food.

A room of tables, filled with people who are eating.

Thus we began to have evening fellowship around the Scriptures. One family Andrei, Oksana and son Andrei, who have been living with us for several days, show great interest in God, began to read the New Testament.

We also faced difficulties:
  • Our cooks couldn't wash the dishes properly. The old sink didn't fit all the dishes and big pans. We were able to buy a new big double sink, and this problem was solved.
  • Our electrical system could not withstand the load, we had to use in turn: a stove to cook food, a boiler to wash ourselves, electric kettles ... We partially solved it by installing a more powerful fuse, and now we still need to make changes to the documents.
  • We didn't have time to wash and dry the bed linen. We have already almost solved this issue.
  • Team fatigue. People were tired and therefore there were some conflicts.
We thank the Lord for:
  • Brothers and sisters, churches in Ukraine and abroad, who actively joined this ministry.
  • We thank the Lord for the team from the local church, and some brothers and sisters from the migrants themselves, who are ready to serve with us.
  • For God's Word, which always has fresh instruction, for a variety of situations.
Please pray for:
  • The end of the war. Talk began that it could last a long time. Our cities, along with their inhabitants, are being wiped off the face of the earth.
  • For registration of all documents in connection with changes in the electrical system.
  • We want to convert two more rooms into refugee bedrooms.
  • For physical and spiritual strength to continue this service.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

With God.
